Product overviewThe SD-DW Series dry-wind low-temperature spray dryer is designed for converting heat-sensitive and biological feeds into powder form, including bacteriophage microcapsules, proteins, enzymes, yeast, lactitol, mannitol, graphene-modified solutions, traditional medicine extracts and similar materials.
Working PrincipleThe feed solution is atomized into fine droplets and exposed to a controlled low-temperature dry-air (dry-wind) environment, enabling rapid solvent evaporation and powder formation while minimizing thermal impact on sensitive components.
COMPARATIONDry method | Freeze Dryer | Dry Wind Spray Dryer
Drying mechanism | Vacuum sublimation | Dew point difference
Drying environment | Vacuum | Normal pressure
Drying temperature | < -20ºC | 35ºC-60ºC
Vacuum sublimation state | Solution state | Solution atomization state
Evaporation surface area | Small | Large
Drying efficiency | Poor, generally >24 hours | High, generally about 3 seconds
Powder state | Block | Powdered
Accumulation thickness | Required, generally cannot exceed 10mm; thicker layers increase drying time and reduce efficiency | None
Conjunctival phenomenon | Surface may develop crusts that hinder sublimation | No conjunctival phenomenon
Influence on materials | Long drying time can affect biological stability | Short drying time, relatively small impact on biological stability
Safety parameters- Equipment noise at operator distance (<1 m) is below 75 dB during operation.
- Dangerous parts are marked with clear warning signs.
- Design complies with applicable equipment safety design specifications.
Dried sample (example)Photographs and sample powders produced by the SD-DW Series demonstrate fine, free-flowing powders obtained from heat-sensitive feeds using the dry-wind spray drying method.
Basic parameters- Feed rate: 50–2000 ml/h (model dependent).
- Product-contact materials: 316L stainless steel; non-product-contact structural parts: 304 stainless steel.
- Exterior can be wiped and disinfected with 75% ethanol and 0.2% chlorhexidine; resistant to common air disinfectants (chlorine-based disinfectants, formaldehyde, ozone, hydrogen peroxide, acetic acid).
- Process monitoring and records: time, pressure, temperature, flow, alarms and program runs — capable of online display and printing.
- Monitoring interface displays equipment status (preparation, operation, shutdown), process program, operational data (temperature, pressure, air volume), pipeline/valve status, feed pump status and atomizer open/close status.
- Feeding system: peristaltic pump (Lange) with Lange feed tubing supplied.
- Atomization/drying system: atomizer, air compressor, pressure regulating valve, drying tower, observation window, etc.
- Inlet temperature sensor range: 0–250ºC.
- Exhaust temperature sensor range: 0–150ºC.
- Product recovery: cyclone separation, collection vessel (316L stainless steel or glass), collection valve.
- Electrical control: PLC control (Xinjie) with Schneider auxiliary electrical components.
- Includes cyclone collector.
- Exhaust dust collection: high-temperature-resistant bag filter or suitable dust collector.
- Supporting equipment (if any): dew point meter (e.g. Michell), air compressor, cold-water circulation unit. Auxiliary equipment should be provided by purchaser when specified; installation site must provide civil water and electrical services.
- Design measures to prevent static electricity and minimize powder/dust escape to the environment.
- Discharge collection valve: clamp-type quick connection.
