Bench-scale micro spray granulation and coating system for research and small-batch production: spray granulation, coating, mixing and fluidized-bed drying.
Integrated top- and bottom-spray configurations for flexible process development and functional coating.
Process capacity: up to 300 g per batch (minimum 50 g).
Peristaltic pump flow: up to 1000 ml/h.
Two-fluid spray atomizer available in 0.7 mm (standard) and 1.0 mm (optional).
Working principle
Spray agglomeration on a fluidized bed converts fine, poorly flowing powders into larger, free-flowing agglomerates by spraying a binder or suspension onto entrained particles.
The process generates liquid bridges between particles; continued atomization increases agglomerate size until the target PSD is reached. Evaporation of residual moisture and binder solidification produce porous particles with internal capillaries.
Typical agglomerate sizes range from 100 μm to 3 mm; starting materials can be ultra-fine powders.
Fluidized-bed drying provides uniform, controlled drying with high heat/mass transfer efficiency—suitable for post-drying of spray-formed or extruded materials and for achieving low residual moisture.
Inlet air temperature must be selected to allow continuous evaporation without forming a surface skin; excessively high inlet temperatures can lead to structural instability or uneven film formation.
Structure
Top-spray configuration: cone-shaped pot body with expansion chamber to promote fountain-like fluidization and multiple spray ports for drying, granulation and taste-masking coating.
Bottom-spray configuration: conical pot with built-in deflector and dual air-duct design; material circulates via a guide tube while a central bottom-up atomizer performs functional coating of pellets and granules.
Technical characteristics
PLC automatic control with 7-inch color touch screen; real-time adjustment and display of inlet/outlet air temperature, material temperature, fan speed and spray pressure. USB interface for data export.
Core components (touch screen, fan, heater, control system) are imported for stable, reliable operation.
Interchangeable pots of different volumes to accommodate varied batch sizes.
Material-temperature and inlet-air-temperature feedback linkage for optimized process control.
Back-blowing design to improve granulation yield.
PID real-time regulation for stable temperature control across the process zone.
