Description

Description of Centrifugal Spray Dryer
It is most suitable for producing solid powder or particle products from liquid materials such as solutions, emulsions, suspensions and pumpable pastes. When particle size and distribution of the final products, residual moisture, bulk density and particle shape must meet precise standards, spray drying is one of the preferred technologies.

Principle of Centrifugal Spray Dryer
After filtration and heating the air enters the air distributor at the top of the dryer. The hot air moves into the drying chamber in a uniform spiral. Passing through the high-speed centrifugal atomizer at the top of the tower, the feed liquid rotates and is dispersed into extremely fine droplets. In a very short contact time with the hot air the droplets dry into final particles. Final products are discharged continuously from the bottom of the drying tower and from cyclones. Exhaust gas is removed by a blower.

Features of Centrifugal Spray Dryer
  • High drying rate due to atomization: material surface area increases greatly and 95%–98% of water can evaporate almost instantly in the hot-air flow; typical drying time is only several seconds, suitable for heat-sensitive materials.
  • Final products exhibit good uniformity, flowability and solubility, with high purity and consistent quality.
  • Simple production flow; easy operation and control. Liquids with 40–60% moisture (up to 90% for special materials) can be dried to powder/particles in one pass. Often no crushing or screening is required, reducing process steps and improving product purity.
  • Particle size, bulk density and moisture content can be adjusted by changing operating parameters, allowing flexible process control.
