Advanced controllers of the EPCU series are designed to magnetize and safely operate WALMAG electropermanent magnetic chucks. They extend base functions with additional protection, diagnostic and networking capabilities and are available in several versions (EPCU 10, 20, 40 SW/DW).

Advantages:

• Microprocessor-controlled magnetization and demagnetization of the workpiece and the chuck

Basic functions:

• Simultaneous control of up to 4 magnetic chucks
• Microprocessor-controlled magnetization/demagnetization of the workpiece and chuck
• Verification of magnetization state — connection to the machine safety contact
• Possible connection to the machine PLC
• Overheat protection (safety delay between cycles)
• Operation via wired U19 control unit with clamping force setting (optional RM remote for section and magnetization-group selection)

Additional functions:

• Adjustment of the demagnetization cycle according to workpiece material
• Complete demagnetization of the workpiece and chuck (for non-compensated EP chucks)
• Networking support (connection of multiple controllers and chucks into large assemblies)
• Remote connection: demagnetization settings, firmware update, diagnostics
• Magnetization-credit function allowing possible shortening of the safety delay between cycles
