Introduction
Marine anchor chain swivel group (E+SW+EL+C) Forerunner is a forged swivel assembly installed between an anchor and the anchor chain to reduce chain twisting and enable controlled rotation during anchoring operations. The assembly is closed-die forged from alloy steel, machined, heat treated, dimensionally calibrated and mechanically tested to meet marine service requirements.

Design and function
The E+SW+EL+C configuration provides a direct connection between an anchor-side D-type end shackle and a Kenter joining shackle on the chain side while remaining compatible with standard stud link anchor chains and windlass equipment. The swivel permits rotation under load to mitigate torsional buildup and to maintain tensile load transfer through the anchoring system.

Testing and inspection
Each swivel group is subject to chemical composition verification, forging inspection, heat treatment verification, dimensional inspection, proof load testing, tensile property verification, hardness testing, magnetic particle inspection (MPI), visual inspection, swivel rotation verification and final assembly inspection prior to shipment.

Application
Suitable for commercial vessels and offshore units including container ships, bulk carriers, oil tankers, LNG carriers, offshore support vessels, FPSOs, floating production units, naval vessels and permanent offshore moorings. Designed to improve anchor handling and reduce chain torsion during deployment and retrieval.

Maintenance
Inspect regularly for body deformation, bearing and pin wear, enlarged link wear, corrosion, cracks and identification marking legibility. Verify free swivel rotation without excessive clearance and ensure all connections remain secure. Replace assemblies that show wear or damage in accordance with classification society and shipboard inspection procedures.
