The GPS market presents phenomenal opportunity. From its origins as a military technology, GPS has made a successful transition into consumer applications. And the number of consumer applications is growing rapidly.
Soon, GPS will be integrated and embedded into devices of all kinds and will be just another standard function. GPS receivers are small and portable. Their size, however does not limit their accuracy; not only can a GPS device determine your position anywhere in the world, it can be a source of other critical information. By FCC mandate, all handsets sold in the U.S. after October 2001 must have E-911 location capabilities. This single mandate is driving the market to include GPS-derived location information in wireless devices.

The A.H. Systems' set of H-Field Rods provide an accurate standard for magnetic field testing. The rods are available individually or in a set of four to cover the frequency range of 100 Hz to 30 MHz. For those situations when improved sensitivity is desired in magnetic field testing, the H-Field Rod is an effective alternative to traditional loop antennas. One amplifier pre-assembled to a metallic ground plane covers the entire frequency range and can be used with any or all of the H-Field Rod elements. Visist our website for more information. www. Broadband antennas, compared to half wave dipoles, reduce test time because the technician did not have to stop the test to adjust the dipole antenna for each frequency. Most compliance standards now require the use of such antennas. The latest version of Mil-Std 461E states the used of broadband double ridge guide horn antenna as the antenna of choice for frequencies above 200 MHz.
A.H. Systems Double Ridge Guide Horns are broadband antennas that offer excellent performance over the frequency range of 170 MHz to 40 GHz. These Horn antennas are an excellent choice for both radiated immunity and emissions testing. Here are several double ridge guide horn antennas ideal for most compliance standards and/or general field measurements. Visit our website for more information. www.AHSystems.com

The FX604 is a low power CMOS integrated circuit for the reception of transmission of asynchronous 1200bits/ sec data in accordance with CCITT V.23 and ETSI specifications. It is also capable of generating the 75bits/ sec 'back channel'.
The device incorporates an optional Tx and Rx data retiming function that removes the need for a UART in the associated C when operating at 1200bits/ sec. The device can disable the back channel or be operated so only the mark or space tone is produced. An optional line equaliser is incorporated into the receive path, this is controlled by an external logic level.

The MT8840 is a carrier over voice modem which allows simultaneous transfer of voice and data over a single pair of wires. Data is transferred on an amplitude shift keyed (ASK) 32 kHz carrier. On-chip filters remove voice frequency signals from the received composite voice and data signal prior to demodulation. The modulating signal is a bit stream with a typical data rate of 2 kbps. In addition, the device contains a two tone warbler which functions as a telephone ringer. The device is fabricated in Zarlink's double-poly ISO2-CMOS technology utilizing switched-capacitor techniques.
