Product overview:The tactile sensor uses a stylus probe to detect contact points and determine tolerances between the programmed and actual position of a weld seam. It is mounted on the processing tool area attached to the robot flange. The robot guides the stylus along search paths programmed on a reference component; when the stylus contacts the component a measuring current flows and the robot stops its measuring run. Comparing the contact coordinates detected during the search run with the programmed reference coordinates allows the current position of the component to be calculated. Three spatial search paths in X, Y and Z enable precise adaptation of robot movements to the actual weld seam position. The stylus enables measurements in hard-to-reach areas and detection of tolerances on seam shapes with low edge offset, for example overlap seams.
Unique selling points:- Detects and compensates component tolerances before welding to ensure weld seam quality
- Enables measurements in hard-to-reach areas and on seams with low edge offset
- Programming integrated in the robot sequence program; no additional programming skills required
- Process-independent measuring method; values usable for all welding processes
How it works:The robot follows programmed search paths while guiding the stylus. On contact a measuring current is generated and the robot stops the measuring run. The contact point coordinates recorded during the search are compared with programmed reference coordinates to calculate the component's current position and adapt subsequent robot movements along X, Y and Z.
