Description

Overview High-temperature furnaces can reach temperatures of up to 2800°C. Plansee offers shield packs made of refractory metals to reduce heat loss and protect furnace internals. Side, top and bottom shieldings are available and can be manufactured from molybdenum, tungsten, ML and stainless steel. Shielding concepts can be adapted to your furnace and requirements; riveted, overlapping and joint shields can be produced in any required size.

Design and performance details Shieldings are designed using an optimized number of W, ML and Mo sheet layers to minimize furnace heat loss. Important aspects are the thermal radiation exchange between sheet layers and the intrinsically low emissivity of molybdenum. The shieldings exhibit low specific heat capacity enabling fast heating and cooling rates and short evacuation times. Molybdenum-, tungsten- and alloy-based shieldings are supplied graphite-free to ensure high process purity and are particularly well suited for high-vacuum and ultra-high-vacuum applications. Tailor-made designs are available to optimize weight and energy consumption for the specific application.
