Working Principle of Transformer Dielectric Loss Tester
Under the action of AC voltage, the dielectric will consume some electrical energy, which will be converted into thermal energy and cause losses, known as dielectric loss. When an AC voltage is applied to a dielectric, there exists a phase angle difference between the voltage and current in the dielectric. The residual angle δ of PSI is called the dielectric loss angle, and the tangent tg δ of δ is called the dielectric loss angle tangent. The tg δ value is a parameter used to measure the dielectric loss.
The measurement circuit of the tester includes a standard circuit (Cn) and a test circuit (Cx). The standard circuit consists of a built-in high stability standard capacitor and a measurement circuit, while the test circuit consists of the test sample and the measurement circuit. By measuring the amplitude and phase difference of the standard circuit current and the tested circuit current through the measurement circuit, the capacitance value and dielectric loss tangent value of the test sample are obtained through vector operation using a digital real-time acquisition method by a digital signal processor.
Precautions of Transformer Tan Delta Tester
1. Comply with the requirements of the 'Safety Work Regulations for High Voltage Testing'.
2. High voltage testing must be conducted by at least 2 staff members, with 1 person operating and 1 person supervising.
3. The instrument must be reliably grounded.
4. After the test is completed, turn off the power switch. It is strictly prohibited to disassemble and install high-voltage cables while they are live!
5. The instrument is experiencing abnormal phenomena. Turn off the power switch and wait for about a minute before checking again.
6. After the measurement is completed, the power switch must be turned off and wait for about a minute before disconnecting the wire.
7. Instruments should be protected from moisture and severe vibrations.
What Are The Main Tests Used For The Transformer Capacitance & Tan Delta Tester?
The Transformer Capacitance & Tan Delta Tester is mainly used to measure the dielectric loss factor (Tan δ) and capacitance (Cx) of electrical equipment, and is widely used for insulation state detection of high-voltage equipment such as transformers, current transformers (CT), voltage transformers (PT/CVT), bushings, lightning arresters, power capacitors, and GIS.
Is The Transformer Capacitance & Tan Delta Tester Suitable For On-site Substation Testing?
Yes. The equipment is specifically designed for on-site high-voltage environments and has strong anti-interference capabilities. It can accurately measure in operating substations and high-voltage testing sites without the need to shut down surrounding equipment.
