Detailed Description
Highly integrated modules and boards deliver elevated performance in compact form factors. Miniaturization of ICs and higher processor frequencies increase heat generation that must be dissipated to keep the CPU within its allowable temperature range. The operating temperature indicated in the module/board technical features refers to the temperature range that the heat spreader / heat sink parts must remain within for SECO to guarantee functionality; it does not necessarily represent the suitable ambient temperature.

The heat spreader is not a guaranteed standalone cooling system and is intended only as a supplemental means to transfer heat to additional dissipation systems (heat sinks, fans, heat pipes, etc.). It is the customer’s responsibility to design and implement an application-dependent cooling solution that ensures the heat spreader / heat sink temperatures remain within the module’s specified range. After evaluating processor workload, system enclosure and airflow/thermal behaviour in the target application, customers must develop and validate a complete cooling solution for the assembled system.
