OverviewThe Prominence-i configured as a GPC system with the RID-20A refractive index detector enables conventional-scale gel permeation chromatography (GPC) with a minimized footprint while supporting multi-detector operation for comprehensive polymer analysis.
Analysis of a Polymer by Multiple DetectorsFor GPC of hydrophobic polymers the refractive index (RI) detector provides main-component molecular weight distribution data. When trace additives with UV absorption are present, a UV detector and a photodiode array (PDA) detector can be used complementarily. Using Prominence-i (PDA model) together with the LabSolutions workstation and LabSolutions GPC software (option), users can simultaneously obtain molecular weight distribution from the RI detector and qualitative/quantitative information on trace additives from the PDA/UV detectors.
Reproducibility of Retention Time Supports Highly Accurate Molecular Weight Distribution MeasurementA dual-temperature control function reduces the influence of room temperature fluctuations, providing improved baseline stability and retention time reproducibility for the RID-20A. The detector also achieves shorter stabilization time after power-on, enabling faster ready-for-analysis conditions. Example data include chromatogram overlays and five-day retention-time reproducibility for polystyrene samples containing additives.
An Intuitive and Intelligent Operation PanelProminence-i features a color LCD touch screen that displays operating parameters such as flow rate and oven temperature. The instrument display can toggle between a chromatogram monitor and instrument status, allowing direct verification of analysis progress on the system.
Images and illustrationsThe product documentation and page include system photographs, chromatogram overlays, reproducibility charts and screenshots of the user interface to assist evaluation and integration in laboratory workflows.
