Overview
Control of Shimadzu Nexera, Prominence and i‑Series LC systems from Waters Empower chromatography data software is provided through a collaboration between Waters and Shimadzu using the Open Interface Portal (OIP) for multi‑vendor hardware control. The driver integrates Shimadzu instrument methods into Empower to enable direct instrument operation within the Empower environment.

• Seamless Shimadzu LC control - Shimadzu LC control parameters are configured via the Shimadzu instrument method editor embedded in Empower; parameters are stored as standard Empower method files for direct control from Empower.
• Digital data acquisition - Detector signals are transmitted digitally to the data system to improve data integrity and reliability.
• Regulatory compliance support - Full system control including autosampler operation is managed via Empower sample set methods; data processing and audit trail functions remain within Empower to support compliance requirements.
• Broad system compatibility - Supported Shimadzu systems include Nexera, Prominence and i‑Series.
