OverviewThe Lucid-X (LSX) is a small-footprint, modular microwave signal generator available in multiple form factors (Desktop, PXIe module, Benchtop, Rackmount, Portable). Designed for low phase noise and high spectral purity, the family supports frequencies up to 40 GHz and is intended for demanding RF and microwave applications including LO sources, radar, EW and precision DAC/ADC clocking.
Key features- Small footprint, modular architecture (multiple form factors: Desktop, PXIe, Benchtop, Rackmount, Portable)
- Frequency range up to 40 GHz (family capability)
- Fast frequency switching: 10 μs (ultra-fast); also supports 100 μs fast switching option
- Coherent frequency switching (phase-coherent multi-channel/synchronized operation)
- Analog modulation: AM, FM, PM, Sweep and Pulse Modulation
- Pulse modulation: high on/off ratio (typically 70 dB), rise/fall times < 15 ns
- Integrated interfaces: LAN, USB and SPI
- Control & programming via industry-standard SCPI/VISA; supports Python, MATLAB, C#/C++, NI LabVIEW and includes a virtual front panel
Modulation & signal generation capabilities- Frequency Modulation (FM): maximum deviations up to 10 MHz, modulation rates up to 1 MHz
- Amplitude Modulation (AM): linear depth up to 90%, rates up to 100 kHz
- Phase Modulation (PM): peak deviation up to 360°
- Pulse Modulation: high on/off ratio (~70 dB), very fast edge times (<15 ns)
- Pattern modulation and additional digital/pulse pattern capabilities (options available)
Signal integrity & purity- Phase noise examples (family typical): -148 dBc/Hz @100 MHz (10 kHz offset), -133 dBc/Hz @1 GHz (10 kHz offset), -114 dBc/Hz @10 GHz (10 kHz offset)
- Harmonics: ~ -50 dBc
- Non-harmonic spurious: ~ -90 dBc
Applications- Radar local oscillator (STALO) and radar test systems
- Electronic warfare (EW) simulation and threat emulation
- Communications (analog comms test, FM/AM/PM modulation tests)
- Precision LO/clocks for DAC/ADC, intermodulation/distortion testing, beam-forming and phased-array test
