OverviewThe Lucid-X is a small-footprint modular microwave signal generator family available in Desktop, PXIe module, Benchtop, Rackmount and Portable form factors. The LSX8084R is the 8 GHz, four-channel 19" 1U rack-mount variant designed for low phase noise and high signal integrity, suitable for demanding multi-channel RF test applications.
Key Features- Modular microwave signal generator in Desktop, PXIe, Benchtop, Rackmount and Portable platforms
- Four coherent channels (4-channel configuration)
- Fast frequency switching: 10 µs ultra-fast switching (UFS option) and additional fast-switch modes
- Coherent frequency switching for phase-coherent multi-channel applications
- Analog modulation suite: AM, FM, PM, Sweep and Pulse Modulation
- Interfaces: LAN, USB and SPI. SCPI/VISA architecture for remote control
Detailed Functional Capabilities- Fast switching speed: <10 µs (ultra-fast switching option UFS) and other fast-switch options
- Analog and Pulse Modulation: FM deviations up to 10 MHz and rates up to 1 MHz; AM linear depth up to 90% and rates up to 100 kHz; PM peak deviation up to 360°; Pulse modulation with high on/off ratio (~70 dB) and rise/fall times <15 ns
- Control and programming: SCPI/VISA compatible; supports Python, MATLAB, C#/C++, LabVIEW and a virtual front panel for local/network control
Signal Integrity and PurityThe Lucid-X family delivers very low phase noise across a wide frequency range. Representative phase-noise (10 kHz offset): -148 dBc/Hz @100 MHz, -133 dBc/Hz @1 GHz, -114 dBc/Hz @10 GHz. Typical harmonic performance: harmonics ≈ -50 dBc; non-harmonic spurs ≈ -90 dBc. Suitable for LO sources, intermodulation testing and high-performance DAC/ADC clocking.
Applications- Radar systems (STALO / stable local oscillator)
- Electronic warfare and radar-threat simulation
- Beamforming and phased-array testing (multi-channel, coherent operation)
- Quantum control and readout (synchronized, phase-coherent signals)
- R&D and manufacturing test benches requiring rapid frequency hopping and low phase noise
