Description

Overview
The Lucid-X (LSX) family is a compact, modular series of microwave signal generators available in multiple form factors (Benchtop, Desktop, PXIe module, Rackmount, Portable). The family delivers very low phase noise up to 40 GHz, supports coherent multi-channel operation and provides advanced analog and pulse modulation capabilities.

Key Features
  • Frequency coverage up to 40 GHz (Lucid-X family)
  • Dual-channel benchtop configuration (LSX4092B)
  • Fast frequency switching: <10 μs (ultra-fast switching option available)
  • Coherent frequency switching for phase-coherent multi-channel applications
  • Analog modulation: AM, FM, PM, Sweep and Pulse Modulation
  • Phase noise (typical): -148 dBc/Hz @100 MHz (10 kHz offset); -133 dBc/Hz @1 GHz (10 kHz offset); -114 dBc/Hz @10 GHz (10 kHz offset)
  • Harmonics typically -50 dBc; non-harmonic spurs typically -90 dBc
  • Pulse modulator on/off ratio typically 70 dB; rise/fall times <15 ns
  • Interfaces: LAN, USB, SPI
  • Control & programming: SCPI/VISA; supported via Python, MATLAB, C#/C++, LabVIEW; virtual front panel included

Detailed Capabilities
Signal Integrity and Purity
The Lucid-X family provides a high level of spectral purity across the 40 GHz range. Typical phase-noise examples at 10 kHz offset are: -148 dBc/Hz (100 MHz), -133 dBc/Hz (1 GHz) and -114 dBc/Hz (10 GHz). Harmonic and spurious performance make the LSX series suitable for use as local oscillators, ADC/DAC clocking, intermodulation testing and other precision RF applications.

Fast Frequency Switching
Ultra-fast frequency switching down to the microsecond range reduces dead time in automated test sequences and enables realistic simulation of frequency-hopping waveforms used in radar, EW and secure communications testing.

Analog and Pulse Modulation
Extensive analog modulation support includes FM (max deviation up to 10 MHz; rates up to 1 MHz), AM (linear depth up to 90%; rates up to 100 kHz) and PM (peak deviation up to 360°). Pulse modulation offers high on/off ratio (~70 dB) and fast rise/fall times (<15 ns). Sweep and pattern/pulse modes are supported for complex signal generation scenarios.

Control and Programming
Designed for system integration and automation, Lucid-X units implement industry-standard SCPI over VISA. Remote control via LAN or USB is supported and drivers/examples are provided for Python, MATLAB, C#/C++, and NI LabVIEW. A virtual front panel allows local and networked GUI control.
