Overview Densitometer DEN-1B measures turbidity of cell suspensions in the standard range 0.0–6.0 McFarland units (approx. 0 – 180×10^7 cells/ml) with digital output in McFarland units. Extended measurement up to 15.00 McF is possible, noting increased standard deviation at higher values. The unit is factory calibrated for 16 mm glass tubes and retains calibration without power. Multi-point calibration (2–6 points) within 0.0–6.0 McF is supported. Use of Biosan calibration standards is recommended for full traceability; commercial or laboratory-prepared standards (e.g., BaSO4) are acceptable. Factory calibration can be restored if required.

Applications Measurement of microbial cell concentration (bacteria, yeast) during fermentation and culture growth; determination of microorganism sensitivity to antibiotics; identification with test systems; measurement of absorbance at a fixed wavelength; quantitative estimation of coloured solutions that absorb green light.

Notes Compatible with glass and transparent plastic tubes with external diameters 12 mm, 16 mm (using adapter A-12 or A-16) or 18 mm (no adapter). Adapter A-16 is included; A-12 is optional. Recalibration is required whenever tube diameter, bottom shape or material changes.
