Description

RTS-1 overview
RTS-1 is a compact personal bioreactor for aerobic and microaerophilic workflows. It applies patented Reverse-Spin® mechanical mixing in single-use 50 ml tubes and integrates near-infrared (NIR) optical monitoring for non-invasive, real-time tracking of cell growth kinetics.

Features
  • Reverse-Spin® mixing in 50 ml Falcon tubes achieves high kLa (up to 450 h-1) suitable for efficient aerobic cultivation
  • Individually controlled unit accelerates process optimization and parallel testing
  • Supports cultivation of microaerophilic and obligate anaerobic strains (not for strict anaerobic containment)
  • Reverse-Spin® enables non-invasive biomass measurement in real time
  • Near-infrared optical system (NIR) records growth kinetics without sampling
  • Free software for real-time data storage, visualization and analysis
  • Compact, low-profile design for benchtop or personal-lab use
  • Temperature control and active cooling for rapid setpoint changes and stress experiments
  • Task profiling and cycle definition for process automation
  • Cloud data storage and remote monitoring via mobile device or PC

Software features
  • Real-time cell growth logging
  • 3D graphical representation of OD or growth rate over time per unit
  • Pause, Save/Load and reporting (PDF, Excel)
  • Connect up to 10 units simultaneously to one computer
  • Remote monitoring option (internet connection required)
  • Cycling/profiling options and user-defined calibration for most cell types

Typical applications
  • Fermentation real-time growth kinetics
  • Clone candidate screening
  • Protein expression monitoring
  • Temperature stress and fluctuation experiments
  • Media screening and optimization
  • Growth characterization
  • Inhibition and toxicity testing
  • Strain quality control
