Overview The BBDM-29KR6M is an air-coupled ultrasonic distance transducer with a 29 kHz center frequency and a reference range of 0.5 to 6 m. It is suitable for tank and vessel level measurement, industrial equipment ranging, vehicle and machinery collision avoidance, security systems and area monitoring. The specified -3 dB half-power angle is 18.5° ±10%, providing broader horizontal coverage while increasing the potential for echoes from structures within the acoustic field.

Coverage and near-distance behavior The lower limit of the reference range is 0.5 m; at close distances the transducer may operate in a near-field region that affects measurement linearity. Over the 6 m span, vessel walls, guards and machine frames that fall inside the expanding acoustic field can produce secondary echoes. A broad beam supports area coverage but may reduce returned energy from small or angled targets.
Electrical interface Electrical characteristics include a minimum impedance of 2,800 ohm, capacitance of 1,900 pF at 1 kHz and a peak-voltage limit below 1,500 Vpp. The unit is supplied with a 22 cm cable; confirm interface and drive requirements before integration.
Applications and installation notes- Typical uses: tank and vessel level sensing, industrial ranging, collision avoidance, perimeter monitoring
- Install with clear acoustic path; avoid mounting that exposes the beam to nearby reflective structures
- IP68 protection allows use in wet or submerged environments within the stated pressure rating
- Observe operating temperature and voltage limits during system design and testing
