Description

Overview
The BBDM-17KR50M is an air-coupled ultrasonic distance transducer with a 17 kHz center frequency and a recommended operating range of 1.8–50 m. It is designed for large-tank level monitoring, industrial distance measurement, collision avoidance, area monitoring and long-range target detection, where deep range and IP68 protection are required.

Installation
This version uses an M108 x 2 bottom mounting thread. The mounting interface differs from long-range models that provide a separate top suspension thread, so the receiving structure and clearances must be designed according to the actual dimensional drawing and the specified bottom-thread interface.

Echo path at extended range
The 13° half-power angle defines the primary acoustic field but does not guarantee target return at 50 m. Targets must present sufficient reflective area and acoustic reflectivity inside the beam. Tank geometry, internal structures, dust, temperature gradients and mounting tilt can generate competing echoes or reduce received signal level; verify target signature in representative conditions.

Mechanical and electrical checks
The support structure must accommodate the M108 x 2 interface and the 1.97 kg transducer mass. Confirm mounting orientation, clearance, operating pressure and temperature, cable routing and connector type. Excitation and receiver electronics must be matched to the minimum impedance (1,500 Ω), capacitance (12,000 pF) and peak-voltage limit to ensure reliable operation.
