Overview
The BBDM-17KR20M is an air-coupled ultrasonic distance transducer with a 17 kHz center frequency and a recommended measuring range of 1.8-20 m. Its stainless steel assembly with water-cooling connections is designed for large-tank level monitoring, industrial distance measurement, collision avoidance, area monitoring and long-range target detection.
The specified maximum operating temperature of 160°C applies only when an active water-cooling circuit is installed and operating. Cooling connections, coolant flow and the surrounding thermal load must be considered integral parts of the measurement installation rather than optional accessories.

Beam coverage and target conditions
The specified -3 dB half-power angle is 20.9° ±10%. At longer distances the relatively broad acoustic beam must be evaluated against tank geometry, vessel internals, nearby structures and the dimensions of the intended target. Unwanted echoes or variations in the air path can affect measurement reliability.

Thermal and mechanical integration
Installation must support a 3.78 kg transducer assembly and route the 15 m cable without imposing load on the connections. Before selection, confirm the cooling arrangement, maximum local temperature, pressure conditions, mounting dimensions, target surface properties and required measurement path. Drive and receive electronics must comply with the specified impedance, capacitance and peak-voltage limits.
