Overview
The Danforth Anchor is a high holding power fluke anchor designed for yachts, recreational boats, fishing vessels, pontoons and light workboats. Its two large pivoting triangular flukes and robust shank provide rapid seabed penetration and reliable holding in sand, mud and soft clay. Standard models range from 3.5 lb (1.6 kg) to 100 lb (45.4 kg); construction includes high-strength steel with hot-dip galvanizing for corrosion resistance.

Introduction
Developed in 1939, the Danforth design emphasizes holding efficiency over sheer mass. The anchor comprises a shank, fixed stock, crown and two pivoting flukes that rotate to approximately 32° to optimize penetration. Hi-Tensile variants use heat-treated 4130 alloy steel shanks; all galvanized models receive hot-dip galvanizing. Model selection is based on boat length and required holding power.

Standards
Name: Danforth Anchor
MOQ: 1 Piece
Package: Carton / Wooden Crate / Steel Pallet
Manufacturing Standards: Manufactured from high-strength steel following recognised marine anchor fabrication practices. Hi-Tensile models use heat-treated 4130 alloy shanks; all galvanized finishes are hot-dip applied. Fabrication includes precision forming, welding, machining and dimensional inspection to ensure consistent geometry and performance.
Testing Standards: Material verification, dimensional and weld inspection, heat treatment verification (where applicable), proof load and mechanical testing, coating inspection, visual inspection and permanent identification marking prior to shipment. Holding performance validated by manufacturer testing on representative seabeds.
Application Standards: Suitable for yachts, sailboats, fishing vessels, pontoon boats, rescue and workboats operating on sand, mud and soft clay. Commonly paired with galvanized anchor chain, nylon rodes and swivels.
Maintenance Standards: Inspect flukes, shank straightness, stock and pivot wear, corrosion and coating condition. Rinse after seawater exposure, remove marine growth and replace anchors with severe deformation, cracked welds or advanced corrosion.
