Introduction
The shackle is a detachable connecting component used to assemble individual shots of anchor chain into a continuous anchor cable for commercial vessels, offshore platforms and permanent mooring systems. It is manufactured from forged alloy steel and engineered to match the mechanical and dimensional properties of stud link and studless anchor chains.

Assembly
The assembly comprises a shackle body, main connecting pin, locking pin and lead plug. After installation the connecting pin is mechanically locked to prevent loosening under repeated loading and anchor handling operations. The finished assembly preserves a profile similar to neighbouring chain links to permit reliable operation in anchor handling equipment.

Manufacturing and Application
Manufactured by closed-die forging followed by machining, heat treatment, dimensional calibration and proof load testing. Standard products support nominal chain diameters 12.5–162 mm for U2 and U3 grades. Typical applications include container ships, bulk carriers, tankers, LNG carriers, FPSOs, offshore platforms, naval vessels and permanent moorings.

All load-bearing components are forged, heat-treated and machined to match chain grade properties. Material certificates, inspection reports and classification certificates available.

Maintenance
Inspect regularly for body deformation, pin wear, locking pin condition, lead plug integrity, corrosion, cracks and excessive wear. Verify locking components after anchor handling. Replace damaged or worn shackles immediately according to classification society requirements.
