Product DescriptionDIN 766 chain is a calibrated short-link welded chain manufactured to the dimensional requirements of DIN 766. It is engineered to engage reliably with metric windlass gypsies and is used for anchoring and mooring on recreational boats, yachts, fishing vessels, workboats, pontoons and small commercial vessels. Materials: Grade 3 carbon steel (finishes: hot-dip galvanized, zinc plated, black painted or self-colour) and AISI 316 stainless steel. Production batches are calibrated, proof tested, weld-inspected and verified for mechanical properties to ensure dimensional accuracy and dependable windlass operation. Not intended for overhead lifting.
IntroductionDIN 766 defines calibrated dimensions for chain pitch, inside length, outside dimensions and calibration tolerances so the chain functions correctly with windlasses built to the same metric standard. Standard sizes commonly cover 6 mm to 26 mm, with production and test data available up to 32 mm.

Parameters and Definitions- Grade of Chain: DIN 766 (calibrated chains using Grade 3 material)
- Working Load Limit (WLL): maximum working load applied in direct tension to an undamaged straight length of chain
- Proof Test: manufacturing test force applied under controlled tensile loading to verify manufacturing integrity (not a service load limit)
- Minimum Breaking Force: minimum force at which chain specimens break under destructive testing; used for batch verification (not a service or design limit)
- Overhead Lifting: chain is not designed or certified for overhead lifting or suspended load applications

Application & MaintenanceSuitable for anchor windlass systems, marine anchoring, yacht anchoring, fishing vessels, workboats, pontoons, marina facilities, barrier chains, security applications and general non-overhead marine uses. Inspect chain regularly for corrosion, wear, elongation, cracked welds, deformed links, coating damage and dimensional compatibility with the windlass gypsy. Chains showing excessive wear, permanent deformation or damaged welds should be removed from service.
