Description

Product Overview
Anchor End Shackle (Anchor End Shackle / End Shackle) is a forged anchor chain accessory designed to connect the crown shackle of an anchor to the swivel forerunner or the first link of an anchor chain. It provides a detachable, load-bearing connection with an oval pin while matching the mechanical strength and dimensional compatibility required for corresponding anchor chain grades. Standard range covers nominal chain diameters from 12.5 mm to 162 mm and is available for chain grades U2 and U3. Each shackle is proof tested, inspected and permanently marked for traceability.

Materials and Manufacturing
Manufactured from forged alloy steel (CM490 for U2 and CM690 for U3) by closed-die/drop forging, followed by machining, heat treatment (quenched and tempered), dimensional calibration and mechanical testing. Typical assembly components: shackle body, main pin, locking pin and lead plug. Standard surface finish: black bitumen paint; hot-dip galvanized (HDG) finish available on request for enhanced corrosion protection.

Applications
Intended for connecting anchor chains to anchors, swivels, enlarged end links or other anchoring components on commercial ships, container vessels, bulk carriers, oil & chemical tankers, LNG carriers, offshore platforms, FPSOs, naval vessels, floating docks and permanent mooring systems.

Product Features
  • Forged alloy steel construction (CM490 / CM690)
  • Designed specifically for anchor chain end connections
  • Compatible with stud link and studless anchor chains
  • Available for U2 and U3 chain grades
  • Quenched, tempered and proof load tested
  • Permanent identification marking and full traceability
  • Optional HDG surface treatment for marine corrosion protection

Manufacturing and Quality Standards
Manufactured in accordance with IACS Unified Requirements (W18, A1), ISO 1704 and applicable classification society rules. Each shackle undergoes chemical composition verification, forging inspection, heat-treatment verification, dimensional inspection, proof load testing, mechanical property testing, hardness testing, magnetic particle inspection (where applicable), visual inspection, assembly verification and permanent identification marking. Certificates from classification societies (e.g., ABS, DNV, LR, BV) can be provided where applicable.

Maintenance Guidance
Inspect regularly for body deformation, pin wear, locking pin condition, lead plug integrity, corrosion, cracks, excessive wear and legible identification markings. Verify locking components after anchor handling operations and replace damaged or excessively worn shackles immediately in accordance with relevant classification society inspection requirements.
