Introduction
Grade 80 alloy chain (G80) is engineered for demanding overhead lifting and rigging applications. Manufactured from high-strength alloy steel, it meets NACM/ASTM classifications and is commonly specified for load binding, towing and overhead lifting when fitted and certified for such use. Binder chains with clevis grab hooks for flatbed trailers are not recommended for overhead lifting unless specifically certified.

Parameter
Grade of Chain: Classified to NACM and ASTM standards; higher grade indicates higher working load limit for the same nominal size.
Working Load Limit (WLL): Rated safe load in direct tension for an undamaged straight chain.
Proof Test: Manufacturing integrity test force; not to be used as a design/service criterion.
Minimum Breaking Force: Manufacturer acceptance test result; not to be used for design/service calculations.
Overhead Lifting: Raising a freely suspended load where a dropped load could cause injury or damage — chains used must be certified for overhead lifting.
