Description

Overview
The EN818-7 electric hoist load chain is a fine-tolerance load chain for powered lifting systems. Supplied in Grade T with three type variants (T, DAT, DT), it is manufactured from quenched and tempered alloy steel with controlled Cr, Ni and Mo content to ensure high breaking strength, fatigue resistance and wear performance.

Key features
Material
Manufactured from deoxidized, quenched and tempered alloy steel. Typical composition thresholds: Cr ≥ 0.4%, Ni variable by type, Mo ≥ 0.15%, Al ≈ 0.025%. Sulfur and phosphorus in cast analysis ≤ 0.020%.

Strength grade and models
Grade T with three types: Type T (ordinary manual chain hoists), Type DAT (standard electric chain hoists) and Type DT (high-speed electric chain hoists). Design and heat treatment ensure required hardness and elongation properties per type.

Surface treatment
  • Type T: black oxide (standard)
  • Type DAT/DT: electro-galvanized (standard)
  • Optional: self-colored, electrophoresis, Dacromet, hot-dip galvanizing (subject to confirmation; may affect mechanical properties)

Application areas
  • Electric chain hoists for factories, warehouses and construction
  • Integrated lifting systems in manufacturing and assembly lines
  • High-precision/high-speed industrial lifting (e.g., wind power, shipbuilding, aerospace)
  • Stage and entertainment rigging (lighting, sound)
  • Food and pharmaceutical industries (stainless or specially coated chains for hygiene requirements)

Safety assurance and testing
  • Minimum safety factor: 4:1 (breaking force ≥ 4 × WLL)
  • Proof load test: every single link tested at 2.5 × WLL; non-conforming links are rejected
  • Testing: calibrated tensile testing machines; whole chains are held at manufacturing proof force and inspected for permanent deformation, cracks or damage
  • Third-party inspection support available for material composition, mechanical properties and dimensional tolerances

Technical parameters (summary)
Nominal sizes: 4 mm to 22 mm. Chain pitch: typically ≈ 3 × d (varies 2.6d–3.2d). Typical hardness ranges (example): Type T ≈ 320–360 HV, Type DAT ≈ 500 HV, Type DT ≈ 550 HV (size dependent). WLL ranges: Type T 0.5–15 t; Type DAT 0.4–12.5 t; Type DT 0.25–7.5 t. Proof load applied per link: 2.5 × WLL. Breaking force: minimum ≥ 4 × WLL. Full parameter table with per-size values available on request.

Standards
Designed and manufactured to EN 818-1 and EN 818-7:2002+A1:2008 (fine tolerance hoist chain, Grade T Types T/DAT/DT) and steel technical conditions to DIN 17115.

Other product information
  • Nominal size range: 4 mm – 22 mm (custom sizes may be available)
  • Heat treatment: quench from above AC3 and/or surface hardening followed by tempering before proof testing
  • Elongation at fracture: Type T/DAT ≥ 10%; Type DT ≥ 5%
  • Fatigue resistance: Type DAT and DT specified to withstand ≥ 200,000 cycles at specified stress ranges
  • Minimum order quantity: 100 m / 1 TON
  • Processing restrictions: subsequent heat treatment, galvanizing/electroplating or exposure to acidic solutions/fumes require manufacturer approval
  • Working temperature limits: Type T min −40°C; Type DAT min −20°C; Type DT min −10°C; all types max +200°C (remove from service if exceeded)
