Product Overview
Windlass Grade 30 5 Gallon Pail of Chain. Electronically welded proof coil chain with hot‑dip galvanized finish for corrosion protection. Meets or exceeds NACM and ASTM standards. Not for overhead lifting; never exceed the published Working Load Limit (WLL).

Introduction
Grade 30 proof coil chain is manufactured from low carbon steel and serves as a general utility chain suitable for applications such as anchoring and mooring on small craft, farm use, log and tow operations, and switch chain tasks.

• Do not use for overhead lifting.
• DO NOT EXCEED THE WORKING LOAD LIMIT (WLL).

Parameter (Definitions)

• Grade of Chain: NACM (National Association of Chain Manufacturers) and ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) classify chains by grade. Higher grades provide higher working load limits for the same chain size.
• Working Load Limit (WLL): The maximum working load that should be applied in direct tension to an undamaged, straight length of chain.
• Proof Test: The minimum tensile force applied during manufacturing under a steadily increasing direct tension. Proof tests verify manufacturing integrity and are not criteria for service design.
• Minimum Breaking Force: The minimum tensile force at which test samples fractured under increasing direct tension during manufacture. Breaking force values are acceptance tests and are not guarantees for service conditions.
• Overhead Lifting: Lifting that elevates a freely suspended load to a position where dropping it could cause injury or damage; Grade 30 chain is not rated for such lifting.
