Product OverviewGrade 100 Binder Chain is manufactured from Grade 100 alloy steel and supplied fully assembled with clevis grab hooks on both ends. The design factor is 4:1. These assemblies are intended for lashing/towing applications and are not recommended for overhead lifting in this configuration despite Grade 100 material being approved for lifting in other configurations.
IntroductionGrade 100 chain offers approximately 20% higher working load limit (WLL) versus a comparable Grade 80 chain of the same nominal size. The binder/tow configuration (also referred to as Tow/Binder, Alloy Log Chain, Grade 10, System 10, Spectrum 10) is equipped with clevis grab hooks that do not include a cradle, allowing the hook to pass through flatbed trailer rub rails for secure lashing.
Parameter- Grade of Chain: NACM & ASTM classifications specify chain grades; higher grade indicates greater WLL for a given chain diameter.
- Working Load Limit (WLL): Maximum recommended working load in direct tension on an undamaged straight length of chain.
- Proof Test: Manufacturing integrity test applying a minimum tensile force under increasing direct tension during production; not a service design criterion.
- Minimum Breaking Force: Manufacturer acceptance test force at which chain specimens break under increasing direct tension; not to be used for service design.
- Overhead Lifting: Defined as any lifting that suspends a load where dropping could cause injury or damage; this binder configuration is NOT recommended for such use.
