Overview
Windlass Grade 30 half-drum chain manufactured as proof coil (electronically welded). Hot-dip galvanized finish for improved corrosion protection. Meets or exceeds NACM and ASTM references. Not for overhead lifting. Never exceed the published Working Load Limit (WLL).

Introduction

• Grade 30 proof coil chain is produced from low-carbon steel and serves as a general utility chain for marine windlasses, anchor handling, mooring and other deck applications.
• Caution: Do NOT use for overhead lifting or human suspension.
• DO NOT exceed the published Working Load Limit (WLL).

Parameters

• Grade of chain: Classification per NACM (National Association of Chain Manufacturers) and ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials); higher grades provide greater WLL for the same diameter.
• Working Load Limit (WLL): The maximum recommended load in direct tension for an undamaged straight length of chain.
• Proof Test: The manufacturing test force applied under steadily increasing direct tension to verify integrity. Proof test values are manufacturing acceptance tests and are not design criteria for service use.
• Minimum Breaking Force (MBF): The minimum tensile force at which the chain has been observed to fail during factory testing. MBF is an acceptance test and shall not be used as a service design parameter.
• Overhead lifting: Any lifting operation that could place a suspended load over personnel or equipment; this chain is NOT rated for such use.
