Description

Product overview
The Grade 100 (G100) lifting chain manufactured to EN818-2 short link specification offers approximately 25% higher Working Load Limit than Grade 80 for the same nominal diameter. Made from quenched and tempered alloy steel to improve tensile strength, fatigue resistance, impact and wear performance during repeated lifting cycles.

Introduction
EN818-2 Grade 100 lifting chain is heat treated (quenched and tempered) to increase mechanical properties required for cyclic and dynamic loading. Compared with Grade 80 chains it enables higher W.L.L. without increasing chain size, improving handling and reducing sling weight for equivalent loads.

Designed for use in
  • Chain sling assemblies
  • Crane lifting systems
  • Offshore lifting operations
  • Industrial rigging
  • Heavy equipment handling
  • Construction lifting applications

EN818-2 Short link structure
Manufactured to EN818-2 short link requirements: calibrated pitch, controlled internal width and dimensional accuracy to optimise load distribution and stable engagement with lifting components, reducing abnormal movement during lifts.

25% higher capacity than Grade 80
Grade 100 chains provide approximately 25% higher W.L.L. than Grade 80 chains of the same nominal diameter, enabling higher lifting capacity without upsizing components and improving sling efficiency.

Quenched and tempered performance
Controlled quenching and tempering increases tensile strength, fatigue resistance and impact performance compared with untreated carbon steel chains. Typical service conditions include tensile and dynamic shock loading, repeated fatigue cycles and abrasive contact between links.

Surface treatment options
Available finishes:
  • Self color
  • Polished
  • Blackened
  • Painted
  • Plastic coated
  • Electro galvanized
  • Hot-dip galvanized

Hot-dip galvanizing improves corrosion resistance for offshore, marine and outdoor use; electro galvanized provides a uniform zinc layer for moderate environments; blackened finishes aid lubricant retention for indoor systems.

Product identification and traceability
Each chain is marked with grade identification, manufacturer ID and production batch to support inspection, maintenance records and quality management throughout the chain's service life.

Application compatibility
Suitable for use with Grade 100 lifting components such as master links, connecting links, shortening clutches, sling hooks and multi-leg chain slings. All components in an assembly should match Grade 100 to maintain the Working Load Limit of the complete sling according to EN818.

Safety factor and testing
Designed with a minimum safety factor of 4:1 for overhead lifting. Production batches commonly undergo proof load testing, breaking force testing, weld inspection, hardness inspection and dimensional verification to ensure conformity with EN818-2 requirements.
