OverviewThe cold Freon® effect is the inadvertent reaction to the chilling sensation that hits the back of the throat following actuation of usually MDIs or nasal devices. Caused by impaction of the delivered dose and the rapid evaporation of any remaining propellant, the “cold Freon®” effect strongly influences the efficiency of drug delivery and patient tolerability.
Product descriptionThe Spray Force Tester Model SFT 1000 is a precision instrument for measuring the maximum impaction force of Metered Dose Inhalers (MDIs) and nasal sprays over the duration of the spray plume. It quantifies the impaction force produced by the device plume and is designed to evaluate how plume impaction and related sensations (such as the cold Freon® effect) may affect drug delivery performance and patient inhalation manoeuvres.
Applications- Evaluation of Metered Dose Inhalers (MDIs)
- Evaluation of nasal sprays and nasal delivery devices
- Assessing plume impaction characteristics related to patient inhalation, tolerability and deposition
Key features- Precision measurement of maximum impaction force of the spray plume
- Time-resolved assessment across the duration of the plume
- Suitable for MDIs and nasal spray products
- Supports investigation of the cold Freon® effect and its impact on delivery and tolerability
- Brochure available for detailed product specifications
