Excelitas single-element pyrodetectors combine a sensing element with an optical window, making them well suited for gas measurement and monitoring. The PYS 3198 TC GX (replacement for LHi 807) is a single-channel, parallel-format temperature-compensated pyroelectric detector based on lithium-tantalate (Li-Ta), optimized for NDIR gas sensing.

Design details
The PYS 3198 TC design places a single sensing element at the center of the detector. Thermal compensation is achieved by a second element, blinded from radiation and connected in parallel. The metal TO-5 housing includes an optical window; for gas measurement the window typically functions as a narrow-band filter matched to target gas absorption. Multiple spectral-range options and configurations are available.
