Product overviewThe PYD 1788 and PYD 1798 DigiPyros are dual-element pyroelectric motion detectors in a TO-5 metal housing. They are re-engineered for improved energy efficiency (operation down to 1.8 V at 5 µA), making them suitable for long-life, battery-powered and remote sensing applications. Each device integrates signal conditioning and digitization to deliver a high-resolution digital output for direct interfacing to a host microcontroller.
DetailsBoth models share identical internal element configuration and electronics. Each detector contains two pyroelectric elements connected in series and an on-chip temperature diode. The PYD 1788 features a standard optical window for general sensing ranges; the PYD 1798 uses an enlarged window to provide a broader field of view. The internal circuitry converts each element signal to a 14-bit digital value, producing a combined 2x14-bit data stream transmitted over a single-wire Direct Link to the host.
