TechnologyThe instrument applies a high-voltage sharp electrode near an earth-connected base with the tested plastic part between them. If a hole exists, ions move from earth to the sharp end producing a measurable current loss, indicating a leak. This ionization-based method delivers the fastest detection for go/no-go processes (cycle times < 0.7 s). Leak sensitivity and accuracy depend on hole size and part material; the method monitors presence and relative magnitude rather than volumetric flow (cc/min).
