Description

Overview
The CIT01-20S self-heating substance tester is designed to determine whether samples oxidize and self-heat when exposed to air under controlled temperatures, in accordance with the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (Tests and Criteria, section 33.3.1.6 Test N.4). The instrument evaluates self-heating at a maintained temperature of 75°C for up to 48 hours and can perform tests at higher temperatures to assess transport hazards and thermal behavior.

Functionality
The tester assesses self-heating by placing samples in cubic steel mesh containers (25 mm or 100 mm side) exposed to air at set test temperatures (e.g. 75°C, 100°C, 120°C, 140°C). Temperature differences between the test sample and an inert reference are monitored to detect exothermic behavior. The device is suitable for explosives, desensitized explosives, self-reactive substances and organic peroxides and complies with UN Test N.4 (33.3.1.6), UN 13.6.1 Test 3(c) and EN 13631-2:2002 where applicable.
