Description

Overview
Fully automatic high-throughput testing instrument designed to detect, measure, classify and grade cotton stickiness (honeydew and 'sugar'). Provides a stickiness risk probability based on sticky grade to help spinners prevent machine jamming and optimize bale management. Intended for spinning mills, cotton traders, textile institutes, R&D laboratories and cotton grading/arbitration centers.

How it works
The stickiness phenomenon (also called 'sugar' or honeydew) is analyzed using an officially recognized thermomechanical method able to detect sticky deposits of different origins in the fiber web. CONTEST-S simulates the carding process to count sticky deposits per gram and measure their sizes, delivering a realistic assessment of stickiness risk in spinning operations.

Stickiness Tester Software — measured/derived data
  • Sticky points classes: deposits classified into 5 size classes (1 small — 5 large).
  • Sticky points/g: total number of sticky points, overall and per class, converted to units per gram.
  • Sticky grade: software computes a weighted grade emphasizing larger deposits to assess stickiness and support bale management.
  • Average sticky point size

Sample and testing speed
Sample weight: 3.5g
Testing speed: about 30 seconds/sample

Accessories
  • Calibration cottons for CONTEST-S (Code 3304.770): 4 packs of 100 g each with different stickiness levels. Optional.

Reference standards
UNI EN 14278-3 (automatic thermodetection rotating drum device method).
