Description

Overview
The Servomill® KB 1500 is a bed-type milling machine with servo-conventional feed technology designed for heavy-duty machining of large and complex workpieces. It combines a rigid machine frame, wide guideways and high drive power. The universal milling head swivels in two planes and accepts long milling arbors for horizontal work. Electronic stops and electronic handwheels provide CNC-like repeatability without programming.

Highlights
  • Servo feed technology with electronic handwheels
  • Preloaded ball screws in all axes
  • 3 x 3 electronic stops (per axis)
  • Universal milling head with two swivel axes (360°)
  • High maximum table load (1,500 kg)
  • Infinitely variable spindle speed, SK 50 spindle mount

Design and construction
  • Rigid machine bed with large clamping table moving in X and Y
  • Heavily ribbed fixed column guiding the compact universal milling head in Z
  • Very wide flat guides on Y-axis and large dovetail guide on X-axis for high rigidity
  • Large table travel and clamping surface for single large parts or multiple fixtures
  • Milling head runs on long flat guides and is supported by a counterbalance; counter support included for horizontal milling with long arbors

Main spindle and drives
  • Spindle speeds adjustable in two gear stages via inverter for high torque
  • Universal milling head designed for smooth running and stability
  • Angle adjustment infinitely variable in the 90° and 45° planes for spatial spindle angles and swivel to horizontal
  • Counter-holder guide for use of long milling arbors and simultaneous machining

Feed system
  • Powerful servo motors enable infinitely variable feed speeds and rapid traverse
  • Preloaded recirculating ball screws in all axes for precise, backlash‑free positioning
  • Weight compensation in Z-axis ensures smooth traverse

Equipment
  • Control panel with X.Pos 3.2 and extended functions (standard)
  • Electronic handwheels and joystick operation for precise axis movement
  • Electronic bedstops: 3 positions per axis, set by push-button
  • Electronic spindle load display
  • Centralised lubrication, coolant system in separate mobile tank, LED work lighting
  • Extensive set of accessories available (tooling, arbors, collets)

Additional highlights
  • Electronics developed and built in Germany
  • Positioning control for predefined travel paths on all axes
  • Zero‑backlash preloaded ball screws
  • Feed synchronisation with spindle speed possible
  • Integrated position indicator with precision glass scales
