Description

Product overview
The Turnado 230/2000 is a conventional engine lathe designed for versatile industrial turning tasks. It combines a one-piece cast-iron bed with a wide working envelope and a modern 3-axis position indicator to support precise, repeatable machining operations. Standard equipment covers common workshop needs to reduce startup time for serial and job-shop production.

Highlights
  • One-piece heavy cast-iron bed for long-term rigidity
  • Center height 230 mm and max turning length 2,000 mm
  • Max swing over bed 460 mm, swing over carriage 274 mm
  • 3-axis position indicator (resolution 0.005 mm) for accurate positioning
  • Comprehensive standard equipment package including chucks, steady rests and quick-change toolholder system

Design & construction
The machined bed is heavily ribbed and made from cast iron to provide a stable foundation and dampen vibrations. Guideways are prism-shaped, hardened and ground for long-lasting precision. A removable gap bridge permits machining of short workpieces with large diameters.

Headstock & spindle
The multi-step gear main drive delivers high torque across a broad spindle speed range. Gears and shafts run in an oil bath and are heat-treated and ground. The spindle support is engineered for rigidity and preload to maintain accuracy under radial and axial loads. Standard delivery includes a Ø250 mm 3-jaw self-centering chuck with reversible hard jaws, a 4-jaw independent chuck and a large-diameter faceplate.

Support (carriage / apron)
The carriage is extra-wide to absorb high cutting forces. Feed control lever and apron nut include safety interlocks. The stop spindle features four adjustable cams for automatic longitudinal feed shut-off to simplify repetitive operations. A micrometer bed stop permits precise travel limits. Central lubrication to the carriage guideways simplifies routine maintenance.

Tailstock
The tailstock quill offers a long stroke (120 mm) with a readable scale and lateral adjustment for taper turning. The quill accepts standard tooling taper (4 MT) and is suitable for drilling, reaming and centering tasks on long workpieces.

Controls & position indicator
An ergonomically placed control panel on the headstock enables quick operator familiarization. The integrated 3-axis position indicator provides ABS/INC modes, radius/diameter toggle, spindle control and functions for taper and constant cutting speed calculations to reduce setup time and scrap.

Accessories & standard equipment
  • 3-axis position indicator (resolution 0.005 mm)
  • Quick-change toolholder system and multiple toolholders
  • 3-jaw chuck Ø250 mm (self-centering) with reversible hard jaws
  • 4-jaw independent chuck Ø300 mm and faceplate Ø350 mm
  • Follow and steady rests for long workpieces
  • Coolant system and integrated LED work light
  • Micrometer longitudinal stop, thread gauge and support for interrupted tapping
  • Foot brake pedal, splash guards, tool kit and operating manual

Maintenance / service
Centralized lubrication points and oil-bath drive components reduce maintenance time. Hardened and ground gears and shafts ensure long service life; regular lubrication and scheduled inspections prolong machine availability.
