Overview
The Hilscher NL 50-MPI is a directly mountable programming connector for S7-200/300/400 PLCs that enables programming, visualization and control over Ethernet. It integrates as a programming device (PG) driver into STEP7® and TIA Portal and can be configured via the engineering tool or the embedded web server. The adapter supports ISO on TCP (RFC1006) for coupling visualization systems and third-party devices, allows remote maintenance across routers using standard TCP/IP, and enables direct PLC-to-PLC communication even when a PLC lacks a native Ethernet port. PROFIBUS diagnostics and Master Class 2 DPV1 services support full DP slave configuration in STEP7®. Power is supplied via 24 V DC; the 1:1 connector contacts permit additional devices on the same MPI/DP bus.
