Product overview
netHOST RTE is a full-featured, autonomously operating Real-Time Ethernet master that enables industrial PCs and embedded systems to control Real-Time Ethernet networks via a standard LAN connection. Communication between the controller and device uses a simple TCP/IP-based transport protocol. A Windows DLL and a "C" source code driver are provided for device integration; both use an API identical to cifX PC cards, allowing netHOST to act as a remotely controllable PC card for field installations.
100 bytes of process data inputs and outputs can be transmitted over the LAN network in about one millisecond. Acyclic services to subordinate Real-Time Ethernet stations are supported. Bus configuration software is included. Two devices can be operated in a redundant configuration over LAN; if one device or line fails, the system can switch to the redundant device. A replacement unit can be loaded and commissioned within seconds via the memory card slot without additional software.
