Description
netTAP 100 connects to communication networks and operates as a gateway for protocol conversion between a 2-port Real-Time Ethernet protocol and a fieldbus or serial automation protocol, between two fieldbus protocols, and between a fieldbus protocol and a serial automation protocol. Licensed Master functionality is unrestricted. The device includes a removable memory card slot for firmware and configuration storage; in case of failure, operation can be resumed within seconds by moving the memory card to a spare unit. Beyond standard protocols, netTAP 100 supports programming of proprietary serial protocols using the Lua-based netSCRIPT scripting language. A full-featured development environment (included) enables rapid implementation of custom serial protocols as well as I/O data preprocessing and further processing during conversion to the secondary I/O protocol.
