OverviewThe gateway links a subordinate SmartWire-DT network to any EtherCAT Master. Each SmartWire-DT station represents a single EtherCAT slave and is mapped with its process data modularly in slots. The device can transmit, exchange, and convert up to 1000 bytes of I/O data transparently between both networks. All 99 SmartWire-DT stations per trunk are supported.
Commissioning and ConfigurationThe gateway is commissioned using the configuration button on the front of the device. Pressing the button stores the SmartWire-DT topology in the gateway. The EtherCAT master automatically reads this configuration via EtherCAT and maps it in the engineering tool according to the ESI device description file. Parameters of SmartWire-DT stations are available and modifiable as EtherCAT objects and are transferred to the gateway during EtherCAT startup, then to the SmartWire-DT stations.
Optional ToolsSWD-Assist (Eaton’s planning and ordering tool) can be used optionally to assist with dimensioning the SmartWire-DT trunk and to perform additional diagnostics through the gateway in case of faults. SWD-Assist is not included with the gateway.
