Product introductionThe WVTR-AE3 Water Vapor Transmission Rate Tester is built on the electrolytic sensor principle and is intended for quantitative WVTR testing of medium- and high-barrier materials such as plastic films, composite films, sheets and papers. The instrument supports packaged samples and flat specimens, delivering repeatable results for R&D and quality control.
Key features- High-precision infrared/electrolytic sensing to ensure accurate WVTR measurements
- Automatic temperature and humidity control for a stable test environment
- PC-controlled operation with user-friendly testing software; real-time data and curve display
- Three independent test chambers allowing simultaneous testing of 3 samples
- One-button automatic test sequence for simplified operation
- Patented pipeline flushing design to keep carrier gas lines clean and improve test efficiency
- Advanced leak-proof sample sealing technology to enhance chamber integrity
- Optional USP 1207-compliant data traceability and rights management for pharmaceutical requirements
Testing principleThe sample is mounted in a diffusion cell split into a dry chamber and a controlled-humidity chamber. Dry high-purity nitrogen sweeps the dry side, transporting water vapor permeating through the specimen to an electrolytic sensor. The sensor produces electrical signals proportional to water vapor concentration; WVTR is calculated from these signals. For package samples, dry nitrogen may be circulated inside the package while humidified nitrogen flows outside.
