Overview
The Hilscher COMX 100CA-DP is a compact communication module for integration into automation devices (drives, robot controllers, PLCs, etc.) to provide a PROFIBUS DP / PROFIBUS MPI network interface. Communication tasks run autonomously in the module, independent of the host CPU. Process data is exchanged via a Dual‑Port Memory accessible through an 8/16-bit parallel bus or a fast 50 MHz SPI interface. The module is based on the netX network controller and benefits from Hilscher's long-term delivery assurance.

Product description
The module executes communication autonomously and provides process-data exchange via Dual‑Port Memory. Integration is via a 50-pin SMT socket (1.27 mm pitch). Diagnostic signals (UART or USB) can be exposed at the host interface if supported by the host system. Status LEDs indicate system and communication status. Protocol behavior can be changed by loading the appropriate firmware; a software license is required for master firmware. The product is delivered with firmware preloaded for immediate commissioning.
