OverviewCompact DIL-32 communication IC for simple field devices providing CANopen Slave functionality and serial host interfaces (SPI, UART/Modbus RTU).
Highlights- Small DIL-32 single-chip module ideal for cost-efficient field devices
- Host connection via SPI or UART with Modbus RTU support
- Integrated CANopen Slave interface including bus logic
- Direct I/O linking through external synchronous shift register
- Single hardware design usable across networks by changing firmware (netX-based)
- Integrated 2-port switch and hub
DescriptionnetIC NIC 50-COS is a slave communication solution for field devices with low data throughput, such as barcode readers, ID systems, valve manifolds or I/O blocks. It exposes a serial host interface (UART or SPI) to devices without their own host processor and implements Modbus RTU as a serial protocol.
Built as a complete single-chip module in a DIL-32 package, netIC is based on the Hilscher network controller netX and contains all components required for fieldbus or Real-Time Ethernet interfaces, including an integrated 2-port switch and hub. A firmware change allows reuse of the same hardware across different communication systems.
If an external synchronous shift register is used as digital I/O, simple devices can operate without a dedicated host processor while exchanging payload data through the serial interface.
Thanks to the Hilscher netX technology, a long-term delivery guarantee is provided.
Supported protocols- Modbus RTU Slave
- Modbus RTU Master
- CANopen Slave
