OverviewType 8743A are quartz shock accelerometers for measuring impulse, impact and pyrotechnic shock. The sensing element uses a unique shear-mode four-quartz-crystal configuration with an annular preload sleeve and seismic mass, providing a high resonant frequency (≈100 kHz) for accurate measurement of high-speed events while minimizing zero shift and internal amplifier saturation. Sensors are insensitive to thermal transients and exhibit very low transverse and base-strain sensitivity. The case-isolated option provides electrical isolation using a patented technique while maintaining high resonant frequency.
