OverviewThe BL Pi-Tron CM3+ from Kontron Electronics is an industrial control baseboard based on the Raspberry Pi Compute Module CM3+ and optimized for integration with CODESYS (IEC 61131-3). Open interfaces and modern security functions enable secure data exchange in IIoT and Industry 4.0 environments, while the platform supports long-term maintainability via the Raspberry Pi community.
Performance & ArchitecturePowered by a Broadcom BCM2837B0 (4x ARM® Cortex®-A53 @ 1.2 GHz), the board provides 1 GB LPDDR2 RAM, optional up to 32 GB eMMC, 2 kB FRAM and a 3D video engine. The modular architecture enables scaling from prototype to series production and supports integration of multifunction I/O modules for complex automation tasks.
Communication InterfacesA comprehensive set of industrial interfaces enables use as gateway, data logger or HMI controller. Available connections include Ethernet, USB, multiple serial buses, CAN and extensive GPIO with support for UART, I2C, SPI and PWM. Robust signalling and isolated I/Os ensure reliable operation in industrial environments.
Application Areas & AdvantagesThe BL Pi-Tron CM3+ is suitable for human-machine interfaces (HMI), industrial communication, M2M, building and home automation, POS terminals, infotainment and mobile embedded systems. Rapid prototyping, open-source software compatibility and CODESYS support reduce development time and allow cost-effective series implementations. Custom board adaptations are available to optimize space and production costs.
