Product overview Excelitas C30902SH-2 is a silicon avalanche photodiode (Si-APD) in a 0.5 mm active diameter TO-18 package designed for photon counting and ultra-low-light detection. It delivers high responsivity near 905 nm, low dark counts and is available with optional single- or dual-stage thermoelectric cooling for improved stability and noise performance.
Features & Benefits - 0.5 mm active diameter Si-APD in TO-18 flat-window package
- High quantum efficiency — typically 60% at 905 nm
- Low dark noise and low bulk dark current for single-photon sensitivity
- Internal avalanche gains >250 (linear mode)
- Spectral response: 860 nm – 960 nm
- Fast time response — typically 0.4 ns
- Operating temperature range: -40°C to +85°C
- Optional integrated thermoelectric cooler (single- or dual-stage)
Applications - LiDAR / Time-of-Flight (ToF) systems
- Quantum communication and quantum optics
- Photon counting and single-photon detection
- Optical Time-Domain Reflectometry (OTDR)
- Laser scanning and rangefinding
Additional details Device supports Geiger mode (VOP > VBD) for single-photon detection with very low and stable dark count rates and low afterpulsing; amplification may not be required in Geiger mode. In linear mode (VOP < VBD) typical gains up to 250 are achievable. Intended for optical powers below 1 pW and ultra-low light level measurements. Cooling options (single/dual-stage TE) are available to further reduce dark counts and improve timing stability.
